POLICY · UPDATED OCTOBER 4, 2026
Privacy Policy
This page is written for humans. It explains what Clanker Quarterly collects when you read it, which cookies may be set, and how to opt out of personalized advertising.
Who we are
Clanker Quarterly is an independent online publication. In this policy, “we” means its owner and editor.
Questions about this policy, or requests about your information, go to contact@clankerquarterly.com.
What we collect
You can read everything on this site without an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we receive your address and your message. We use them only to read and reply, and we keep them only as long as the conversation needs.
- Technical data. Like any website, our host receives technical information with each request: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors.
Hosting
The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes the technical data above to serve and protect it. Cloudflare’s handling of that data is described in its privacy policy.
Cookies
We do not set cookies to track readers. The only cookie we set ourselves is a sign-in cookie for the site’s editor, which readers never receive.
If advertising is shown on the site, our advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies, as described below.
Advertising
Clanker Quarterly may display advertising served by Google AdSense. When it does:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Opting out of personalized ads
- You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info, or at youronlinechoices.eu in Europe.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Ads will still appear, but they will not be based on your browsing.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before advertising cookies are used to personalize ads. We do this through a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform. You can accept, decline, or choose which purposes to allow, and you can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link on the site. If you decline, you may still see ads that do not rely on personalization.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws such as California’s, you may have the right to know what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details above. For data held by Google, use the Google controls linked above.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we use it changes, for example when advertising begins, we will update this page and the date at the top.
